US President Donald Trump on early Tuesday fired four senior government officials who were appointed by his predecessor and indicated that "over a thousand more" would soon face termination in his first
Truth Social post
following his inauguration.
On the platform, Trump said, "My Presidential Personnel Office is actively in the process of identifying and removing over a thousand Presidential Appointees from the previous Administration, who are not aligned with our vision to
Make America Great Again
."
The president specifically identified four individuals for immediate dismissal:
Jose Andres
from the President's Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition,
Mark Milley
from the National Infrastructure Advisory Council, Brian Hook from the Wilson Center for Scholars, and
Keisha Lance Bottoms
from the President's Export Council.
The post continued, "Let this serve as Official Notice of Dismissal for these 4 individuals, with many more, coming soon."
The message concluded with "YOU'RE FIRED!", reminiscent of Trump's signature phrase from his role as host of the television programme "The Apprentice".
US government institutions are preparing for significant changes in the coming days and weeks, as Trump moves to fulfil his campaign promises regarding
civil service reduction
and efficiency improvements, including potential elimination of entire departments.
