US President Donald Trump says he told ICE to "get ready" for deployment to US airports. He wrote on Truth Social: " The Radical Left Democrats have hurt so many people with their vicious and uncaring ways." He continued his scathing criticism of the democrats claiming that they had ruined the department of Homeland Security, the federal body responsible for public security, similar to the Home Office.

Homeland Security also oversees the TSA, the agents responsible for providing security screening at airports, and around 50,000 of them have had to work without pay due to a partial government shutdown. The shutdown came due to a deadlock between Democrats and Republicans who failed to agree on a deal on their funding and TSA and ICE policies.

Democrats are demanding that the department change its immigration enforcement policies, something that the Republicans have consistently rejected leading to the current situation.

The impasse is something that seems to have infuriated the president who has now threatened to send his ICE officers into airports, to take over the role.

Posting to Truth Social, the President added: “What they have done to the Department of Homeland Security, our fantastic TSA Officers, and, most importantly, the great people of our Country, is an absolute disgrace.

“If the Democrats do not allow for Just and Proper Security at our Airports, and elsewhere throughout our Country, ICE will do the job far better than ever done before! The Fascist Democrats will never protect America, but the Republicans will.”

The continued deadlock has led an increased number of agents to simply stop turning up for work.

While the average no-show rate for TSA workers sits under 2%, under the current situation, the White House claims that figure is up to around 10% of workers.

Trump continued his post claiming he would send ICE in as soon as Monday, he added: “Likewise, I look forward to moving ICE in on Monday, and have already told them to, “GET READY.” NO MORE WAITING, NO MORE GAMES!”
