US President Donald Trump will greet King Charles on Monday as the monarch makes an historic state visit to the United States amid growing tensions in the two countries' 'special relationship'.
The King’s US state visit will have "all appropriate security measures" in place, Britain’s ambassador to the US has said following what the White House has called an attempted assassination of President Donald Trump. The visit will come after Mr Trump repeatedly criticised Prime Minister Keir Starmer over a number of issues. The US President has repeately voiced his unhappiness with how the Sir Keir was handling the war in Iran, and his request to allow the use of military bases. Recently, he even warned the US could review its support of Britain’s claim to the Falkland Islands.

Visit to mark American independence anniversary
The visit will also mark the 250th anniversary of American independence.
Charles visit's similar to Queen Elizabeth's
The CNN pointed out that many people "may feel familiar as Charles’ late mother, Queen Elizabeth II embarked on a similar mission in 1957.
"Back then, she went to see President Dwight D. Eisenhower and successfully revived the transatlantic alliance in the aftermath of the Suez Crisis."
When will Charles and Camilla be at the White House?
Charles and Camilla are expected to be greeted by Mr Trump and Melania at around 9pm British time.

How long will the state visit last?
The visit will last four days and will begin in Washington DC, where the King and Queen will be greeted at the White House by Trump and the First Lady Melania.

President Trump said King Charles III will "be very safe".

The Reform UK leader said he would like Charles to raise the issue of the Falkland Islands with the US president following speculation Washington could shift its position on Argentina’s claim to the territory in retaliation for a lack of British support in the Iran war.

Concerns for King's security
Asked if he had concerns about the King’s security, Mr Farage told the Press Association: “The King has been shot at before.
“It happened back in 1994. The King’s favourite uncle was murdered by the IRA. Princess Anne was attacked.
“So the King and the royal family have had to live through this before. That was the third attempt on Donald Trump’s life.
“I can assure you there is going to be security around the King’s visit like you’ve never seen.”
