Donald Trump provided a major update on the war in Iran as he spoke to the press after holding a phone call with Russia President Vladimir Putin. The two leaders held a call on Monday evening, during which they discussed the operation in Iran and the war in Ukraine, according to Russian state agency TASS. The pair, the news outlet also claimed, also touched upon the topic of Venezuela during their hour-long chat.

Following their call, Mr Trump spoke to a US news outlet, suggesting Operation Epic Fury, the codename for the strikes being launched on Iranian targets by Israel and Washington, may soon come to an end. He said: "I think the war is very complete, pretty much."

Speaking to CBS News, he added: "[Iran has] no navy, no communications, they’ve got no Air Force.

"Their missiles are down to a scatter. Their drones are being blown up all over the place, including their manufacturing of drones."

Suggesting the operation has so far being successful, he added Iran has "nothing left" from a military point of view, after the US military said to have struck more than 3000 targets in a week.

On the first day of strikes, on February 28, the strikes resulted in the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the then leader of Iran.
