A tourist in Thailand was allegedly attacked by a group of five to six transgender women, local reports say. The 55-year-old German was reportedly assaulted in the early hours of Tuesday after previously asking two transgender women to leave his hotel room when he discovered they were trans.
The man, named in local media as Mr Markus, is said to have invited the pair — who he believed were cisgender women — to his hotel room in central Pattaya. The city, which is on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand, is well-known for its vibrant nightlife and is often called 'Sin City'. Mr Markus was allegedly attacked on the city’s beach after realising money had been stolen from his room.

The Pattaya News reports that, according to the police investigation, the cash was taken while Mr Markus was in the bathroom with one of the suspects, 24-year-old Phimmada Thanari.
It is said the other suspect at the hotel, 22-year-old Kewalin Sukmuang, remained outside, and allegedly spotted and took cash from an envelope.
The amount stolen from the room reportedly amounted to 35,000 Thai baht (£831) and 1,200 Euros (£1,045).

An arrangement for ‘companionship services’ reportedly fell through and did not meet the agreed terms after Mr Markus discovered they were transgender.
Both suspects then left the room and after discovering the alleged theft, Mr Markus quickly went downstairs.
The tourist located Phimmada near Pattaya Beach at around 00:45am and attempted to detain her while calling the police.
She reportedly shouted for help, leading to Mawin Phlapphleng, 26, Worawit Phosawang, 21, and two other accomplices to allegedly join in and assault the victim.
Phimmada, Mawin and Worawit were all later arrested and charged with jointly causing bodily harm resulting in injury.
Phimmada, as well as Kewalin, face additional charges of jointly committing theft at night in a dwelling or receiving stolen property, The Pattaya News reported.

The local outlet also reported that Kewalin and Phimmada admitted to dividing money taken from Mr Markus’ room, with Kewalin taking 15,000 baht and Phimmada taking 18,500 baht.
Thai police are attempting to track down the other two suspects in the assault case.
