The shocking footage was filmed at a waterfall on Thailand’s popular Full Moon Party island, Koh Phangan.

Daniel and Jarden, both 39, shocked locals and tourists alike when they stripped naked and began having sex at the Wang Sai Waterfall on Tuesday.

Witnesses said the man pinned his partner against the rocky riverbank and mounted her from behind before leaning over to kiss her.

The couple were apparently unfazed by hikers walking past.

One local tour guide, who stumbled upon the couple mid-romp, pulled out his phone and recorded the scene.

“I wasn’t expecting to see that kind of wildlife,” he said.

“It was quite embarrassing because I was leading a small group of tourists hiking through the area at the time.

“This is not the impression I want them to have of my country.”

The footage quickly spread across social media, prompting police to track the pair to their hotel in Surat Thani province on November 5.

Police Colonel Apichart Chansamret confirmed: “Officers found the couple at their rented house in Koh Phangan district.

“They initially denied what happened, but they were then shown photographs and video clips of the indecent acts, including sexual intercourse, at Wang Sai Waterfall.

“Both individuals admitted that they were the people in the clips, and they will be fined according to the law.”

The pair were taken to the Surat Thani Immigration Office to face charges of “jointly committing a publicly shameful act, including undressing or exposing their bodies, or engaging in other obscene acts.”

This is an offence punishable by a fine of up to 500 baht (around £11).

Their arrest comes amid growing frustration among locals about the behaviour of some foreign visitors.

There has been anger directed toward Israeli tourists on Koh Phangan in particular.

It has been dubbed as a “second Tel Aviv” due to its large Israeli community.

Some restaurants have even displayed “No Israel” signs, though critics say such actions are fuelled by hysteria surrounding the wider conflict in Gaza rather than by individual misconduct.

Thailand’s tropical islands are no strangers to controversy involving foreign travellers.

Just one day before Daniel and Jarden’s arrest, British sex guru Maria Shchetinina, 40, was detained for allegedly running erotic yoga workshops for couples on the same island.

Operating under the name Maria Sly Love, the self-proclaimed tantra teacher charged 400 baht (£9) per class, offering sessions in “sacred sexuality,” meditation, and tantric massage behind the Ethos restaurant.

Police raided the venue on November 4 after investigating her social media posts advertising the “sexually indecent” workshops.

Incidents like these have reinforced Thailand’s growing unease with the behaviour of some tourists.

It reminding visitors that paradise still has its limits.
