One of Vladimir Putin's key state TV mouthpieces has praised Donald Trump over his interest in Greenland and his approach to the US's allies. Speaking on his Russian show, "The Evening With Vladimir Solovyov", the TV presenter and propagandist began by praising the US president, affectionately referring to him as "Trumpushka," before calling him a "good lad" for his bluntness toward Greenlanders, Danes and Swedes.

Mr Trump explained to the Europeans, Solovyov said, "Dummies, it's over, I need Greenland". He went on to claim that no American president in history has started a term like this, signing a record number of executive orders and taking actions that no one else has dared to "turn around" in the country's history. "US allies of 50 years were told, 'Know your place, mice'," Solovyov added. He went on to mock those who thought they were safe from sanctions because they were part of the same "bourgeois" circle.

"It's being openly asserted, 'Russia is not the enemy'," Solovyov continued, before highlighting that Mr Trump explicitly stated Russia is not an enemy, a sentiment he claims hasn't been officially voiced in the U.S. since the 19th century. In contrast, he portrayed the EU as a fractured group "coming apart at the seams" and full of people who hate each other.

"As Sergey Lavrov wisely said today, not only is Britain no longer great, but the EU is a bunch of comedians [...] What are they all about? Who fears them now?"

State Duma deputy, Andrey Lugovoy, went on to say that Mr Trump has presented a harsh choice: either stay "under America's nuclear umbrella" or give up Greenland. He also questioned whether the US would truly sacrifice New York for the sake of cities like London, Paris, or Berlin.

Solovyov was quick to respond, however, throwing yet another threat at the UK: "Him and us will jointly strike London," he warned.

Lugovoy predicted that Europe is heading toward a "global humiliation" over the Greenland issue. When he asked: "Will NATO even remain after this?" Solovyov answered with a patronising laugh.

"Therefore, we'll stock up on sunflower seeds and observe what will be happening," Lugovoy added.

Solovyov then said he found it "amusing" to watch NATO "dissolving itself" before their eyes, concluding that the US has shown its allies they are "worthless slaves" rather than partners.
