One dead, seven injured as Tesla Cybertruck carrying fireworks explodes near Trump hotel

One person died and seven others were injured after a Tesla Cybertruck caught fire and exploded at the

Trump International Hotel Las Vegas

on Wednesday morning, as reported by the Associated Press.
The explosion occurred around 8.40 am in the hotel's valet area.
The truck, seemingly carrying fireworks, was rented through the car rental app 'Turo', according to a law enforcement official speaking anonymously. The deceased individual was inside the truck, and authorities worked to recover the body. Seven others sustained minor injuries, with some transported to a hospital.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation, with authorities not ruling out terrorism, according to a person familiar with the matter but unauthorized to speak publicly.

FBI Acting special agent in Charge Jeremy Schwartz said, "I know you have a lot of questions. We don't have a lot of answers." President Joe Biden has been briefed on the incident.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted on X: "The whole Tesla senior team is investigating this matter right now. We've never seen anything like this."
Witness Ana Bruce, visiting from Brazil, reported hearing three explosions: "The first one where we saw the fire, the second one, I guess, was the battery or something like that, and the third was the big one that smoked the entire area and was the moment when everyone was told to evacuate and stay away."

The 64-story hotel is located near the Las Vegas Strip. Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization, praised the fire department and law enforcement on social media "for their swift response and professionalism."
This incident follows a separate New Year's Day attack in New Orleans where a driver rammed a truck into a crowd, killing at least ten people before being shot by police.
