Firefighters have rushed to a school where 17 people have been taken to hospital.

Toxic gas has leaked in a school rendering pupils struggling to breathe and see. 

Emergency services swooped on a school in Allach in Munich, Germany at around 1.17pm on Thursday. Shockingly eight people are being treated as seriously injured, with another nine reportedly slightly injured.

Police investigation

Munich Fire Department has confirmed local police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the leak. 

Medical operation

Symptoms of the substance have included irritated eyes and breathing difficulties, Munich Fire Department reports. 

In addition to the 17 injured, another 26 uninjured children and staff have been assessed and taken care of by emergency services. 

Building evacuated

Munich Fire Department arrived at the school with a heavy presence, all kitted out in special breathing apparatus as they ordered everyone stepped outside the building.
