Madeleine McCann suspect Christian Brueckner has been chased out of town by furious locals. Brueckner, 49, was forced to flee a flat in Braunschweig, Germany, amid an angry backlash.
He was released from prison in September under strict conditions, including living in a place which he can't leave without permission, according to German daily Der Spiegel. A source said he moved out of the flat after several days of locals peacefully protesting in the car park behind his building.

They also told The Sun: "His new location remains unknown, though he is likely still under police surveillance."
Brueckner was named by German prosecutors in 2020 as a suspect in Madeleine's disappearance.
At the time he was serving a jail sentence for raping a woman in the same part of Portugal from where Madeleine went missing.
A lawyer acting for Brueckner has previously denied his client has anything to do with Madeleine's disappearance. Brueckner repeated the denial in October.
He has not been charged with any crime related to Madeleine's case.

In addition to raping the woman, who has since died, Brueckner has convictions for child abuse and drug trafficking.
British, German and Portuguese police have singled Brueckner out as a suspect and sought to link him to the case.
