Iran's busiest airport has been engulfed in a huge fireball after being bombarded by relentless overnight strikes as Donald Trump demanded Tehran's "unconditional surrender". Footage from Tehran’s Mehrabad airport shows a burning plane and plumes of thick smoke rising into the sky.

Satellite imagery taken on Friday shows multiple aircraft were at the airport. It is unclear at this moment in time which parts of the airport have been bombed. Built in 1938 Mehrabad Airport is home to numerous aerospace companies that have been linked to Iran's defence industry.

The Israel Defense Forces said more than 80 fighter jets carried out a “broad-scale wave of strikes” on Iranian military sites, missile launchers and other targets in Tehran and central Iran on Saturday.

The IDF said the strikes targeted military infrastructure, including the Imam Hossein military university, which trains officers for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). It said the university housed multiple military assets.

The Israeli Defence Forces struck areas of Beirut, prompting Iran to respond with a barrage of missiles aimed at Israel.
