Indian-origin tech influencer, former Google engineer and an investor in US, Debarghya (

) Das has com under fire for his guide to US citizenship in which he detailed how he got scholarly articles written by a firm in his name. The blog was published earlier but blew up after this part was noticed by several X users who slammed the green card holder for advising to commit scientific fraud to get American citizenship.

The blog was amended after the flak.
"I think Americans would be right at this point to simply end all immigration from India and demand repatriation of most legal aliens," a post condemning Deedy said. Ann Coulter even shared a post on the issue and wrote: "Indian influencer's guide to US citizenship: commit scientific fraud".

Deedy in his blog detailed how he got his EB-1A as an Indian engineer after a denial. He wrote most Indians are in a 150+ year long wait for legal immigration to the US. Born in 1992, Deedy came to the US at the age of 3 and got a green card as a child in 2000. He did his schooling in India and then again went to US in 2011. Meanwhile his permanent residency was inactive.

As his blog drew ire, he clarified that it was not his recommendation and more what his previous immigration law firm recommended. He also issued a clarification that his intention was to help people who are struggling with the immigration bottlenecks. He clarified that he did not mean that a firm would write an article on behalf of the applicant but in practice they interview, draft an article which the applicant has to edit and then find trade publications to run it. It is a long-established practice for over 30 years with corporate clients too, Deedy said.
