Donald Trump’s niece claimed the president launched the military action for “one reason and one reason alone”. Her comments came after the United States carried out large-scale strikes against Iranian targets as part of Operation Epic Fury, an offensive the White House described as the result of Trump’s “bold command” bringing “overwhelming force” against the country.
The conflict has had devastating consequences across the region. Reports indicate that at least 787 people have been killed in Iran, including 165 schoolgirls, while the conflict has rapidly escalated following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran retaliated with a wave of drone and missile attacks across the Gulf, targeting several countries including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Oman, Qatar and Cyprus, raising fears the conflict could spread further across the Middle East.
In a video posted to her YouTube channel Mary Trump Media, titled Trump Declares War to Save Himself, she accused the president of having “no interest” in helping ordinary Iranians, the Mirror reported.
“The Iranian people have suffered long and horribly under the cruel and repressive authoritarian theocracy currently in power,” she said.
“They deserve to be free, and they deserve the ability to determine their own system of governance.
“But the man who is bombing their country has no interest in them, and he has no plan to create the conditions in which they can become free.”
The psychologist and longtime critic of her uncle also claimed there had never been a clear strategy behind the military escalation.
“There never has been a plan,” she said, arguing that her uncle tends to “wreak havoc” and then expect others to deal with the consequences.
She added that Trump rarely faces personal fallout for what she described as his “reckless and ill-considered actions”.
“For Donald, there is one reason and one reason alone,” she said.

“He’s in trouble, and he knows it. This isn’t simply about changing the subject. This is to keep himself and the world from knowing what an inept, depraved, compromised fraud he is.”
She further alleged that Trump had taken the United States into war partly at the urging of Saudi Arabia and Israel, but said the decision also aligned with his own political interests.
The Israeli government has defended the military escalation. Defence Minister Israel Katz described the strikes as a “pre-emptive attack” designed to eliminate threats against Israel.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington had been aware of Israeli plans and acted pre-emptively in anticipation of a possible Iranian attack.
President Trump has also defended the operation. Posting on his social media platform Truth Social, he said Iran’s “menacing activities directly endanger the United States, our troops, our bases overseas and our allies throughout the world”.

He also claimed Iran had been developing long-range missiles capable of threatening American allies in Europe and potentially the US mainland.
However, a previous assessment by the US Defense Intelligence Agency, reported by CBS News, suggested Iran would not possess missiles capable of reaching US territory until around 2035.
