Peter Navarro snaps at Sky News reporter over tariff policy
Donald Trump’s senior trade adviser became embroiled in a furious row with a Sky News reporter in which he barked at him to “stop that c**p” and ordered him to “back off”.
Peter Navarro, the President’s senior counselor for trade and manufacturing, was tackled by Sky’s US correspondent Mark Stone after Mr Trump on Wednesday announced a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports from the UK, a measure which took effect on March 12.
On Tuesday, he had announced plans to increase tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum imports from 25% to 50% - but reversed his decision 24 hours later.
Pressed by Mr Stone, Mr Navarro said: "The policy is 'no exemptions, no exclusions' and that will change if the president changes his policy.
"But there's a very good reason why 'no exemptions, no exclusions' exists as a policy because when we were kind enough as a country to make those kind of gestures to our friends, they bit the hand that fed them and that's not going to happen again.”

Mr Stone replied: "The president seems to be changing his mind by the hour at the moment. What are your views on the fact that..."
Mr Navarro hit back, saying: "Sir, you don't understand what a negotiation looks like. The president is negotiating strategically. So stop with the rhetoric, okay? Just stop that c**p.”
Mr Stone interjected: "But he does seem to be changing his mind all the time…” prompting Mr Navarro to repeat: "Stop that c**p.”
When Mr Stone suggested it was "causing havoc to the stock markets", Mr Navarro responded: "It's not causing havoc.”

Mr Stone then pointed to turbulence in the stock market in recent days, and a visibly angry Mr Navarro raised his voice and ordered him to “back off”.
The Sky Reporter pointed out that he was allowed to ask questions, at which point Mr Navarro countered by accusing him of “hectoring him”.
Mr Trump’s recent announcements appear to have triggered significant stock market volatility, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average experiencing a near 900-point drop on Monday amid investor concerns.
Also on Wednesday, Canada announced a package of new tariffs on the US worth a total of £16bn.
