One person is dead and at least three people are injured after a teenager went on a stabbing rampage at a school in France. A student armed with a knife is understood to have attacked children at the private Notre-Dame-de-Toutes-Aides high school in the Doulon area of Nantes on Thursday afternoon, according to local media.
Reports suggest that the 15 year-old boy launched his attack in two separate classrooms shortly after midday. The attack was stopped after teachers managed to overpower and restrain the knifeman before police arrived on the scene. The severity of the injured victims remains unknown although one student’s condition was described as “serious”.
There is no indication that there was any terrorist motive behind the incident, although French media outlet RTL has reported that a dispute between classmates might have been the cause of the attack.
