CNN ground to a halt to deliver some breaking news about the Iran conflict this morning, claiming 1,000 paratroopers will be deployed to the Middle East within days. According to the American news channel, the US has reportedly moved “all the pieces” into the region, signalling preparations for a possible ground invasion of Iran. Chief national security analyst and anchor Jim Sciutto, who was reporting live from Tel Aviv, in Israel, explained: “Whatever the President ultimately decides about a ground operation in Iran, all the pieces are now in the region to carry one out.

“And it’s not just the 1,000 paratroopers. You have marines deployed to the region and then all the forces like the air transport, etc., that one would require to put troops on the ground, whether that be the discussion of Carg Island, which the discussion is central to Iran’s energy industry.
“Or perhaps along the shores of the Strait of Hormuz to secure the Strait of Hormuz. We don’t know, and ultimately it’s up to the President.”
When asked about the deployment, White House representative Anna Kelly noted that “President Trump always has all military options at his disposal.”
The troops are being deployed just as the government claims it has started negotiations with Iran to end the conflict, which started at the end of February.
Iran has denied that any negotiations are taking place, while Pakistan offered to host diplomatic talks.
