Forecasting for March 5, Aemet said: “Cloudy or overcast in general. Light to moderate rain, with a low probability of locally heavy showers in the mountainous islands and, during the early morning, in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.”
La Gomera, the second-smallest of the archipelago, is marked by craggy volcanic mountains and impressive hiking trails.
However, it's best to skip those hikes today, as the whole island is also under a weather warning, to remain in effect until 14:59 today, March 4.

Valencia on the mainland has also issued a red alert with schools closed across the region as a safety precaution.
Residents have been advised to seek higher ground until the weather passes, National World reported.
The city is still recovering from devastating floods that killed 223 people with at least 31 still missing last October, described as its worst flood in decades. It received a year's worth of rain in just eight hours, turning streets into rivers and destroying homes.

The severe rainfall has hit during the island’s carnival celebrations, forcing many events to be cancelled or postponed.
Santa Cruz City Council has cancelled all of this afternoon's scheduled Carnival group performances due to the bad weather and pre-alert for rain issued by the Canary Islands Government.
The decision aims to ensure public safety while maintaining the spirit of the annual "Carnaval chicharrero," Canarian Weekly reported.
This evening's events, including the Dragnaval show, are still set to go ahead as planned, with authorities closely monitoring the development of weather conditions.
The Council encourages attendees to stay informed through official channels for any further updates regarding the Carnival schedule.
Weather forecast for Fuerteventura - whole island under warning
The entire island of Fuerteventura is also under a warning for rain, with up to 15mm of accumulated rainfall in one hour. There is a 10-40% probability.
"Scattered showers that may particularly affect the eastern slopes and inland areas of the easternmost islands," Aemet writes.
The notice will remain in place until 23:59 this evening, March 4.

Tenerife has not escaped the raging waters.
Floodwaters trapped at least 80 people inside a supermarket, who were unable to reach their vehicles due to high water levels in the car park, local media reported. Emergency services were sent to pump water out of the car park to free them.
Weather warnings are also in place for the North and metropolitan area of Tenerife. Here, there is a 40-70% chance of very heavy local showers. The notice will remain in place until 23:59 this evening, March 4.
