POLICE have launched a manhunt for the husband of a British mum who vanished on holiday in Jamaica as disturbing reports emerged about his secret criminal past.

Dawn Anderson, 64, stayed at a hotel after flying out for a break on the Caribbean isle with Jamaican partner Andre Morrison, 37.

But it is now a week since the businesswoman was last seen leaving a hotel the morning after she flew into Montego Bay on a Virgin flight from the UK.

And her daughters revealed they were frantic with worry after being unable to contact their mum or Andre - as police revealed he was once a murder suspect.

Fashion retailer Dawn - a devout Christian who lives in Mitcham, South West London - fell for builder Morrison when he worked on her Jamaican home in Roaring Falls.

But neither Dawn or her family knew he had a criminal history and was once arrested on suspicion of murder, then freed through lack of evidence.

And her UK-based daughters have been left distraught after claims emerged that he was a known crook dubbed “Mantis” on a police Most Wanted list.

The couple attended Roaring Falls Church together, where bubbly Dawn was a popular and colourful figure.

They also appeared on TikTok videos together sporting matching African fashionwear she imported from Ghana in videos promoting her brands.

But Morrison has vanished now after calling her family to reveal his wife had gone missing on November 24.

Further alarm spread after associates of the missing husband claimed he had confided that he wanted to “do away” with Dawn.

Grown-up daughters Krystal, Charmaine and Fiona Anderson have appealed for help tracing their missing mum.

One of Dawn’s daughters said on being told of Andre’s past on a YouTube Channel chat: “From what you have told me he is a demon.”

Deputy Superintendent Shaunjaye Mitchell of Jamaica Police yesterday confirmed Morrison had once faced a murder charge but was freed.

The cop told The Sun: “He was arrested on reasonable suspicion of murder but there was no evidence to charge him.

“In another case he was charged with wounding with intent and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

“He has an identical twin brother and his lawyer that brought both of them to court and asked the witness to point out the accused.

“The witness pointed out his brother and the case was dismissed.

“We are unable to say whether Dawn has been harmed but our investigations involve several agencies at this time to ascertain her whereabouts.

“We have been making efforts to locate Morrison but are unable to divulge the specifics of those efforts at this time.”

Dawn - who grew up in the Uk but often spends winters at her home in Jamaica - flew to the island on November 24 and stayed overnight at the four-star Hotel 39 in Montego Bay.

She is understood to have stayed there with Morrison and was last seen heading out at around 11.50am the following day.

Police confirmed they had spoken to Morrison but have since been unable to locate him.

Deputy Superintendent Mitchell told the Sun: “There are some inconsistencies in the husband's account of how she has gone missing.

“He indicated that he took her to Negril to conduct business and has not seen her since and that he reported her missing at the Negril Police Station.

“However, checks revealed that that was not so. The husband has a colorful criminal past all attempts to reach him have since have proven futile.

“He is being treated as a primary suspect in connection with her disappearance but based on the law we're unable to list him as a wanted person

“Upon landing in Jamaica, Dawn checked into a hotel along with her husband but since checking out of the hotel she has not been seen or heard from.

“Family members contacted her husband, who informed them that he took her to Negril and left her at a location where she indicated she had a phone to deliver.

“He stated that when he returned to pick her up, she was not at the location and  he hasn't seen or heard from her since.

“He further alleged that he visited the Negril Police Station and reported her missing after which he fainted and went to the Negril Health Centre for treatment.

“However, checks made by the police and family members disproved these claims.”

Dawn’s daughter Fiona, speaking on a Jamaican YouTube channel, said: “My mum is a good person who has helped many people and the whole family has not taken this very well.

“Andre wanted to meet my mum and he made the booking at the hotel but now he has disappeared as far as I know and we don’t have any numbers for him.

“I don’t think he is staying at my mum’s house because he has taken all his things.”

Told about Morrison’s criminal past, the daughter sobbed: “I can’t even take this in. The whole family is not taking this well.”
