Mystery surrounds the death of a British businessman on the tourist island of Phuket in Thailand after he was seen pacing erratically outside a hotel. According to the reports, the businessman, 33, was seen in CCTV footage, walking restlessly outisde a hotel.

Later, his body was found in a drainage ditch near Phuket. Police was called to the scene after a Burmese worker discovered the corpse. According to the police, the man was floating face-down, barefoot and wearing a grey shirt and black pants. They said that the Brit had begun to bloat from being in the water so long.

The police officials haven't discovered any signs of assault. His hotel key card has been found in his pocket. His new iPhone 17 had been left on the bank nearby.

Local Police Chief Sutthirak Chuthong said that the victim was a British national. He added that the man’s hotel had been unable to reach him and noted that a search of his room showed no signs of forced entry or anything unusual.

Lieutenant Colonel Thongchai Matitham said: "At around 12.30pm on Saturday, March 14, a worker from Myanmar harvesting morning glory vegetables came across the body and alerted the police station.

"When officers arrived at the scene, the body was found lying face down in a public drainage canal. An iPhone 17 was discovered on the bank nearby and had not fallen into the water. No other valuables were found, and the deceased was not wearing shoes."

As per the hotel records, the businessman had checked in the hotel alone. According to the reports, he was likely to check out from the hotel the day before the body was discovered, but never checked out.

Matitham added: "CCTV footage showed that he appeared restless and was moving back and forth in front of the hotel before leaving the area. His movements eventually led to the location where his body was later discovered."
