A British-born publishing heir, his pregnant wife, a doctor and a footballer have all died in a devastating plane crash in Guatemala on Sunday.

Harald Undrum, who was an heir to Christian Schibsted, and the founder of Norwegian publishing and media group Schibsted died with his wife, Judith Mazariegos, 26, when a plane went down in San Marcos, Guatemala on Sunday night. At the time of the crash, Undrum's wife was pregnant.

It is not known as to what capacity the couple were visiting the Central American country. Undrum was born in London and was later adopted into the Schibsted family dynasty, which is one of Norway’s richest families.

He later relocated to Spain with his wife and three children, where he worked as a truck driver for a number of years.

Undrum has been featured in several high-profile financial cases for a number of years. In the early 2000s, Undrum (then 29) found himself in financial trouble as a result of bailouts for friends in trouble. Kapital reported that he provided large guarantees for financial acrobat Thomas Øye. Undrum was a sixth-generation heir to the printer Christian Schibsted, who founded the Schibsted media group.

The media giant owns VG and Aftenposten, among others. As of 2022, Undrum reportedly had a registered fortune of NOK 60 million. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (UD) confirmed that they are "aware of media reports" that a Norwegian citizen has died in the plane crash.

A doctor and a local soccer player also died in the accident in San Marcos, southern Guatemala. It is understood the football player was the plane's pilot, local media reported.
