Three women were stabbed on the metro in Paris, France, on Boxing Day. The incident happened on the Ligne 3 (line three) of the Paris metro between 4.15pm and 4.45pm local time (3.15pm and 3.45pm GMT), the local transport organisation RATP said.

The stabbing attacks happened at the Arts-et-Métiers, République and Opéra stations, French news outlet BFMTV wrote. Due to the incident, the metro service was temporarily suspended between Republique and Gallieni, RATP said around 3.12pm GMT.

This, it said on X, was "due to the intervention of law enforcement forces".

The women injured were treated at the scene by firefighters.
