As France celebrates its tenth edition of les Nuits de la lecture, or Reading Nights, we find out how time spent reading literature, in France and elsewhere, is dropping. We also discuss whether this widespread dip in reading is changing society – namely, whether it is making politics dumber. Finally, we tackle a divisive question: is listening to audiobooks actually reading?
