Auckland Airport passengers are stuck in long queues due to a security breach, according to reports.

In an announcement, airport staff said: “Due to a security breach all passengers are to be rescreened. Please follow the instructions of staff. We apologise for the inconvenience.”

There were reports of passengers stuck onboard a Wellington to Auckland flight after landing.

Airport spokesperson confirms breach is now resolved

"Safety and security at the airport is important and we thank travellers for their patience," an airport spokesperson said.

Flights delayed

"There have been some delays to flights, and we ask that anyone travelling domestically this morning to please stay across travel updates from their airline," the spokesperson also added.

Security breach resolved

Local media said the breach has now been resolved.

All passengers had to be rescreened

An Auckland Airport spokesperson said Aviation Security was requiring all passengers to be rescreened, and that process was underway, 1news reported.
