A number of explosions have been heard in Anderlecht, with locals racing to social media to ask what was going after loud booms were, with helicopters reportedly scrambled and police 'everywhere'.
A number of people in the Brussels neighbourhood - most famous for its football club - took to X to ask the same question: Porquoi? Or, in English: Why?
One X user said: "Does anyone have any info on what's happening right now in Anderlecht? There were two massive explosions and gunfire, and now helicopters are out and the police are everywhere?"
A second added: "Explosion in Anderlecht, for real, what's going on?"
Police, first responders, and government are yet to share any information on the situation.

More claims online surface of incident in Peterbos
More people are taking to social media with claims of an unfolding incident near Peterbos.
One X user wrote: "I see nothing but police vans heading towards Peterbos, Mortbeek and Dilbeek, and several helicopters in the sky."
For those unfamiliar with the neighbourhoods of the Belgian capital, Peterbos is a major social housing estate in Anderlecht; municipality in the southwest region of the city of Brussels.
Peterbos was built in the 1960s, and has been historically known for its high-rise apartment buildings and green spaces.
Recently, however, it has become a hotbed for drug-related crime, gang violence, and police operations.
Gunshots heard
The same person who made claims of an ongoing incident in Peterbos has now claimed they can hear gunshots.
Again, these are unconfirmed reports. The Daily Express is working on gaining official comments from authorities.

Mystery reins supreme Anderlecht tonight, with reports of multiple explosions reported in the Brussels neighbourhood.
One social media user took to X to report that they had heard "two explosions not far from Peterbos. Firefighters and police on the scene."
These reports are unconfirmed. The Daily Express is working to confirm the incident at hand, and has contacted both Brussels police and fire services for comment.
