Senegal remain top of their AFCON group after a 1-1 draw against DR Congo, but will have to wait until the final group stage matchday to seal their spot in the knockout stages. 

Sadio Mané drew his team level minutes after Cédric Bakambu broke the deadlock on the hour mark in Tangier. Benin are also in the mix to qualify from Group D. having claimed their first-ever win in the tournament against Botswana.

Nigeria nearly led a 3-0 lead slip against Tunisia, but were eventually able to see out the win and book their spot in the last 16. Sunday's action sees Algeria and Burkina Faso face off in Rabat, before the reigning champions Ivory Coast reignite an old rivalry against Cameroon in Marrakesh.

In the Premier League's festive fixtures, an inspired Rayan Cherki was both goalscorer and provider as Manchester City saw off Nottingham Forest. Arsenal reclaimed top spot soon afterwards, while Florian Wirtz opened his Liverpool account and Ollie Watkins led Aston Villa to an eleventh straight victory.
