, as reported by Reuters.
This news has sparked a wave of criticism from social media users, with calls for a boycott of the streaming platform gaining traction.
According to reports, Hastings' $7 million contribution could be his most significant political donation to an individual candidate to date.

On Monday, the Netflix executive chairman congratulated Harris after she secured the support of a majority of Democratic delegates, positioning her as the party's nominee to face off against Donald Trump. He also took to X earlier this week to voice his support for Harris, saying, "Congratulations to Kamala Harris; now it is time to win."

This comes after former President Barack Obama officially endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for the US presidency, ensuring that she now has the support of all the party's high-profile figures in her White House bid.
Initially, Obama had refrained from endorsing a candidate following Joe Biden's decision to withdraw from the campaign, preferring an open nominating contest at the upcoming Democratic National Convention in Chicago next month.
However, after Harris received endorsements from Bill and Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, various state governors, senior Democrats in Congress, and Biden himself, Obama added his voice to the growing support for the vice-president.
