A car has crashed into a grocery store on Westwood Boulevard in Los Angeles, leaving at least two people dead. At least five people have also been injured after the vehicle went through the front of a 99 Ranch Market on Thursday afternoon (February 4).
The Los Angeles Fire Department said some individuals were possibly hit before the car crashed into the store. Some of the victims were initially trapped underneath the vehicle, the department's Lyndsey Lantz added. The crash took place around 12:11pm local time on the 1300 block of Westwood Boulevard. Emergency services, including several fire engines, rushed to the scene. It is unknown what led up to the crash and information about the driver is currently unknown.
A view from KABC Los Angeles' AIR7 helicopter showed a large response from first responders, with a triage area set up to treat patients, outside of the 99 Ranch Market.
What appeared to be a silver sedan could also be seen inside the front of the store.
The cause of the crash has not been determined, but authorities say the driver remained on the scene.
