Donald Trump supporters have described comments by the late Queen that the president elect was “very rude” as being part of a misunderstanding about his personality.
The claim that Britian’s longest serving monarch found Trump impolite was made in the “Voyage Around The Queen” biography by writer Craig Brown.
It sparked an angry reaction from the billionaire who rejected the suggestion and claimed he was Queen Elizabeth II’s “favourite president.”
However, Republican backers in rural Wisconsin believe the Queen’s comment was most likely a response to the US president elect’s “personality.”
“I mean it makes sense,” said Randy Cook, chair of the Baron County Republican Party when asked about the Queen reportedly calling Trump very rude.
“He's a negotiator and he's going to negotiate from a position of power every time. He's not going to be pushed [around].
“Some of the things he says would make even the most stringent conservatives cringe but I know he loves the country.

“A lot of the things he says if you track it back, it's going to be out of love for this country.
“I mean, he says some things I wish he wouldn't say, but if you walk in all the way back, you'll see the patriot in him.”
Fellow Republican organiser Patty Anderson agreed adding that the perception the president elect was rude was part of a bigger misunderstanding about Trump.
“That's his personality,” she explained. “Everybody's got a personality and his is just that.
“This is part of the problem with a lot of people about Trump. They don't like what he says, but they look beyond that.
“He was a businessman. He ran the country like a business. And it should be in the black. It shouldn't be in the red.
“Our Constitution says that the real job of the government is to protect our borders and the Biden campaign is not protecting our borders at all. That's the main job, keeping your citizens safe.”
Lifelong Democrat turned Trump voter Brian agreed that Trump coming across as rude was part of the the 47th president’s personality.

“He says some stuff that was probably a little bit rough,” he added. “I always said if he would just tone that down and just speak, you know, the truth he doesn't have to take it to [so far]. But I think that's kind of his personality.
“If you can see past that, he's a very caring guy. But the media doesn't display that. They don't show us that side of Trump. Unless you watch certain media then you get to see that heart of Trump. He's an awesome person.”
Trump fan Brandi also felt she’d rather have a president who was blunt and a little brash than a polite but misleading politician.
“He does step on a lot of toes with the things that he says,” she added. “But I would rather have somebody who speaks his mind than somebody who will tell people what they want hear, and then just do whatever they're going to do. He may talk big, but his policies are good.”
One Trump fan had an even simplier reason for the Queen calling him very rude.
“He speaks like everyone else would like to but are scared to,” Lorna Button told the Express.
