Former US presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy hinted at running for position of Ohio governor after reports of him already planning his formal bid.
A parody account of Ramaswamy, announced his "
bid for governor
" in a post on X. "I am officially announcing my candidacy for governor of Ohio. I am ready to lead with vision, integrity, and a commitment to addressing the needs of every Ohioan.
Together, we can build a brighter future for our state," stated the parody account.
Reacting to the "announcement", Ramaswamy seemed to agree with the idea. "Note - the below is a parody account. (Not a bad idea, though)," he said.
Currently, picked to head the department of government efficiency (DOGE) along with Elon Musk, awaiting confirmation, Ramaswamy has already planned his bid for governor, according to the Washington Post sources. An Ohio insider with knowledge of Ramaswamy's strategy, speaking anonymously to Washington Post, discussed the ex-presidential candidate's plans openly and said: "Vivek's base plan remains [the] same: to get accomplishments at DOGE and then announce a run for governor shortly."
Ramaswamy had also reportedly been eyed to replace
JD Vance
on the
Ohio senate seat
, with backing from Trump. Vance officially resigned Friday to serve as Trump’s vice president. Under Ohio law, Gov. Mike DeWine (R) will appoint a replacement for the next two years, and then a special election on November 3, 2026, will decide who serves until the term expires in 2029. However, the billionaire biotech entrepreneur has been said to be in favour of the governor seat.
