Donald Trump may have announced a last-minute ceasefire agreement with Iran, but it’s done little to quieten the growing wave of Democratic lawmakers calling for his removal by invoking the 25th Amendment.
As of Tuesday, over 80 Democrats had posted on social media calling for Trump to be removed from the Oval Office, after he made genocidal threats to Iran saying “a whole civilization will die tonight,” and his expletive-ridden Easter Sunday post where he demanded Iran to “open the ****ing Strait”.
US lawmakers say these extreme threats show a decline in Trump’s mental health, and he’s unfit to serve.
Though Republicans have been more silent on the issue, there have been cracks on the right flank, with some GOP lawmakers saying they do not agree with Trump’s increasingly violent posts that they say “goes against” American values.
Former Trump allies and MAGA influencers have also posted their discontent, with Alex Jones, Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor-Greene demanding Trump be ousted.
In Truth or Fake, Vedika Bahl explains the reactions from both Democrats and Republicans, and how the 25th Amendment actually works.
