A senior figure associated with one of the charity’s partner organisations was arrested in Britain in a US terrorism-financing case, triggering the investigation.The Al-Khair Foundation, which reported more than £74 million in income in the year to July 2025, became the subject of a statutory inquiry by the Charity Commission on Friday. Counter Terrorism Policing London has also opened an investigation and searched two properties in Croydon. No arrests have been made in the UK investigation.The developments followed the July 31 arrest in Britain of Mohammad Yousef Hasna, a Turkish national whom US authorities accused of conspiring to provide money and supplies to Hamas. The US Department of Justice has not publicly named the organisation it describes in its case as a “sham charity”, while the Al-Khair Foundation says Hasna was employed by one of its implementing partners rather than by the foundation itsel...
