The US president is delivering the most anticipated speech of the week
US President Donald Trump is addressing leaders and business elites at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos. Trump takes the podium after threatening his European allies with tariffs following his vow to seize Greenland from Denmark “the easy way” or “the hard way.”
Trump has said he will impose a 10% tariff on “any and all goods” from eight European countries that deployed troops to Greenland last week, telling NBC News on Tuesday that he “will 100%” follow through on this threat. The US president maintains that American control of Greenland is vital for national security reasons.
Asked whether he would use military force to seize the Danish territory, he told NBC “no comment.”

Trump claims that his seizure and sale of Venezuelan oil is going to make Caracas “more money in the next six months than they’ve made in the last 20 years.”
The president is still taking a victory lap after abducting Nicolas Maduro, saying that “Venezuela has been an amazing place for so many years, but then they went bad with their policies.”
US oil companies, however, have expressed caution at returning to Venezuela. In a meeting with Trump earlier this month, Exxon's CEO Darren Woods said that the country is “uninvestable” for the time being.

Trump says Europe is “not heading in the right direction.” Amid unprecedented tension between the US and its European allies, the US president accuses the Europeans of mismanaging their economies and “destroying” their societies through “unchecked mass migration and endless foreign imports.”
“Quite frankly, many parts of our world are being destroyed before our very eyes, and the leaders don't even understand what's happening,” he says.

“It’s great to be back in beautiful Davos…to address so many respected business leaders, so many friends, a few enemies.”
Trump opens his speech in true Trump fashion. Followed by a lengthy list of his economic achievements, including how tariffs have made the US “the hottest country in the world.”

Trump’s delayed arrival means that he will no longer get to meet with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, CNN reports.
The two leaders had a bilateral meeting scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, with the Greenland crisis top of the agenda. Now, German government sources tell CNN that it is “unlikely to take place.”

Trump’s helicopter just touched down in the ski resort of Davos. He is expected to begin his speech within minutes.

Trump has arrived in Zurich two hours behind schedule. Air Force One suffered a “minor electrical issue” shortly after departing Washington DC last night, forcing Trump and his entourage to return and switch to a backup aircraft.
The White House said that the decision was made out of an abundance of caution.
