Donald Trump has called for Barack Obama to be 'imprisoned' during a flurry of ranting online posts last night. The US President launched into an extraordinary late-night social media frenzy, sharing more than 50 posts in around five hours while reviving conspiracy theories about the so-called “deep state” and the “Russia hoax”.

Among the barrage of posts on his Truth Social platform were repeated attacks on Obama, who left office nearly a decade ago, including one post branding the former president “demonic”. One of the most explosive posts reshared by Trump ended with the message: “Arrest them all. Prosecute them all. Incarcerate them all at once for treachery, treason, and seditious conspiracy to overthrow the United States government. But first Barack Obama.”

The overnight posting spree came after Trump was accused online of appearing to fall asleep during a White House event earlier in the day. Several of the posts pushed unproven claims that Obama used federal agencies to spy on Trump ahead of the 2016 presidential election - allegations Trump has repeatedly described as “the biggest political crime in American history”.

Another repost came from the popular MAGA-linked X account “Catturd”, which claimed Obama had invented evidence that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help Trump.

The account wrote: “Arrest Obama the traitor.”

Trump’s late-night blitz also included repeated reposts and videos showing alleged criminal or inappropriate behaviour.

The final rant of the night turned to the controversial renovation costs for the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

Firing back at a New York Times report claiming the repairs would cost $13.1million rather than the $1.8million figure Trump had previously suggested, the President launched another furious attack on the newspaper.

He wrote: “The Failing New York Times, which is one of the worst newspapers anywhere in the World, and is losing subscribers on an hourly basis, is now at it again.”

Trump then dragged Obama and former President Joe Biden back into the argument, accusing them of overseeing an “expensively botched attempt” to repair the landmark.

Critics on social media reacted with disbelief to the President’s overnight tirade.

One X user wrote: “Now Trump follows up the crazy post below with more off-the-charts lunacy.

“Anyone who believes any of this stuff belongs in a psychiatric ward, for real. We have a madman in the WH.”

Another added "Trump is obsessed with Obama."

The President’s overnight posting spree also included a meme showing Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi standing in polluted water alongside the caption: “Dumacrats Love Sewage”.

The image appeared to reference long-running Republican attacks on Democrat-run cities and states over issues including sewage pollution, homelessness and urban decline, particularly in California and San Francisco.
