Trump’s so-called seven-point peace plan freezes the conflict along the current front lines.

That means Ukraine would surrender a fifth of its territory while Russia can keep almost everything — save two small parcels of land.

In exchange for what? There are no security guarantees for Kyiv to stop Putin invading again — such as foreign troops or Nato membership.

So it is not an end to the slaughter, it is merely a pause.

In the words of Kyiv’s Prime Minister, it would be “a frozen conflict disguised as peace”.

America would even recognise Russia’s legal ownership of Crimea.

It is a reward for Russian aggression and a chance for Putin’s battered military to rearm.
