The U.S. has launched new military action in the Middle East after President Donald Trump reportedly notified Congress America is at war with Iran once again.

Military officials have confirmed they are launching new strikes against Iran, with President Trump telling CNN: "We're going to take out Pickaxe Mountain. Tell the Iranians we're coming."

The President has also claimed the Strait of Hormuz 'will remain open, with or without Iran' by installing a blockade on Iranian ships or their customers. He added a 20 per cent fee on 'all cargo shipped, for any and all costs necessary to do the job of providing safety and security to this very volatile section of the world'. The developments come after a peace deal between the two nations collapsed last week (July 8).
