Donald Trump has ordered for every Afghan national who entered the country US under the Biden administration to be investigated following the shooting of two members of the National Guard on Wednesday. The two US National Guard soldiers are in critical condition following the shooting near the White House.

The president said the "monstrous, ambush-style attack" was carried out by an Afghan national who entered the country in September 2021 during America's chaotic withdrawal from Kabul.

The Department of Homeland Security is confident that the suspect in custody is a foreigner who entered our country from Afghanistan, a hellhole on earth,” Trump said.

“He was flown in by the Biden administration,” Trump added during a late night address to the nation on Wednesday, November 26.

The president has now called for a “re-examination” of all Afghan nationals who came to the country during the Biden administration.

"We're not going to put up with these kind of assaults on law and order from people who shouldn't even be in our country", said Trump.

He continued: “We must now re-examine every single alien who has entered our country from Afghanistan under Biden. And we must take all the necessary measures to ensure the removal of any alien from any country who does not belong here or does not benefit to our country.

"If they can't love our country we don't want them."

Shortly after his remarks, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said it was halting the processing of immigration from Afghanistan to the U.S.

“Effective immediately, processing of all immigration requests relating to Afghan nationals is stopped indefinitely pending further review of security and vetting protocols,” the agency, known as USCIS, said on X.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said on X that the suspect came to the country under the Biden-era programme called Operation Allies Welcome which was created to help Afghans who assisted US forces and were facing a Taliban takeover.

The White House was subsequently placed into lockdown upon hearing of the shooting.
