US President Donald Trump could allow Iran to enrich uranium in a major concession, as it's also reported that he screamed at his generals in a major meltdown. The deal would see Iran resuming its uranium enrichment in ten years' time, the New York Times reports. The US President had pushed for a 20-year suspension over fears that anything less would make it too similar to a deal in 2015 that fell through.
The previous deal was signed by President Obama and banned Iran from enriching uranium above civilian levels for 15 years. Meanwhile, a new report released by the Wall Street Journal revealed that the President "screamed at aides for hours" following the downing of an American jet earlier this month. An F-15E Strike Eagle with two crew members was shot down by on April 3, marking a blow to the US as the war intensified.
A senior administration official told the publication that aides updated Trump at meaningful moments, but he was reportedly kept out of the room while his team made decisions. Following the crash, one member of the crew was quickly rescued by US forces after ejecting before the aircraft went down.
However, the second crew member spent more than 24 hours behind enemy lines before US forces rescued him.
The Wall Street Journal reported that images of the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis, which was one of the biggest international policy failures of a presidency in recent times, had been looming large in the President's mind.
Vice President JD Vance and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles were among the senior officials to dial into the Situation Room to receive updates in the 24 hours that followed.
An official told the US newspaper: "Aides kept the president out of the room as they got minute-by-minute updates because they believed his impatience wouldn’t be helpful."
However, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told the Wall Street Journal that Trump had "remained a steady leader our country needs".
She said: "President Trump campaigned proudly on his promise to deny the Iranian regime the ability to develop a nuclear weapon, which is what this noble operation accomplishes."

The paper also reports that the CIA reportedly engaged in a deception campaign by spreading false information that the airman had already been found.
Trump then addressed the rescue mission at 2am on Truth Social, writing that the "brave Warrior was behind enemy lines in the treacherous mountains of Iran, being hunted down by our enemies, who were getting closer and closer by the hour".
