Donald Trump is said to be thinking about his legacy and “what he will be remembered for” amid continued speculation around his health. The comments were reportedly made by a senior White House official and comes as the US President insists he is in ideal condition.
A dark bruise on one of his hands has often been a source of debate among people online, while the 79-year-old has also been snapped with swollen ankles. It was confirmed last year that the President had been diagnosed with a condition affecting his veins called chronic venous insufficiency. Officials say the bruising on his hand is unrelated and linked to “frequent handshaking”.
Mr Trump, who regularly called his predecessor and White House rival Joe Biden, “Sleepy Joe”, remains a keen golfer.
Speaking to the New York Magazine, he doubled-down on his claim that he is in “perfect health” and said he feels “the same“ as he did 40 years ago.
However, he did tell the magazine: “I hate to waste a lot of time on this, but if you’re going to write a bad story about my health, I’m going to sue the ass off of New York Magazine. There will be a time when you can write that story, maybe in two years, three years, five years — five years, no one is going to care, I guess.”
White House officials speaking to the New York Magazine provided further insight.
A senior staff member said Mr Trump does think about “what he will be remembered for”.
The construction of a new “crazy ballroom” at the White House was identified as an example of Mr Trump “leaving a legacy”.
