US President Donald Trump could be invited to stay with the King at Balmoral Castle this year on a state visit, it has emerged.

As reported by The Sun, the US President could receive the invite to stay at the Royal Family’s Scottish castle this week when Kier Starmer arrives in Washington DC to see the President.

Although the Palace have not confirmed any details, The Sun reported how a senior government source advised them Balmoral would be an “obvious choice”, especially as Trump has stayed at both Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle before in his first presidency.

A Whitehall insider reportedly said: “He’s already been to Windsor and Buckingham Palace, so Balmoral is being talked about.

“Everyone knows he loves Scotland and it’s near his golf course.”

The news of a potential invitation comes after it was reported over the weekend that Trump could invite the Prince and Princess of Wales to America for an official visit.

A source told the Mail this weekend: "President Trump very much enjoyed meeting Prince William in France.

"He was wowed by William and thinks he's a great guy. He will officially invite both the Prince and Princess of Wales to visit Washington but understands if the Princess of Wales' health issues prevent her from coming."

The invite is expected to come after the President met Prince William in France last year, just months after it was announced Princess Kate had finished chemotherapy following her cancer diagnosis last year.

William and Trump met at the Notre Dame reopening in Paris in December, during which the President praised William and his royal work.

Kensington Place revealed that the pair focused on the importance of the relationship between the UK and the US during their meeting.

The news of these invites potentially being made this week comes as good news for UK and US relations, especially as Trump is a huge supporter of the monarchy.

The President has spoken fondly in the past about his relationship with the late Queen Elizabeth II, once telling GB News that “she was so brilliant”.
