Tragedy as third British tourist, 57, found dead on Greece holiday

A British holidaymaker has tragically died at a renowned Greek resort after his body was recovered from the sea.

The 57-year-old man becomes the third fatality at Prasonisi, Rhodes, following his discovery in the waters at approximately midday on Sunday, September 7.

Officials confirmed the Briton showed no signs of life and lacked a pulse when brought ashore.

He was transported urgently to the Gennadi Health Centre but medics were unable to revive him and he was subsequently declared dead at the facility.

The Lindos Port Authority has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death, with a post-mortem examination commissioned to determine the precise cause, Mirror reports.

The tragedy follows another incident where a 26-year-old British man perished in Rhodes after his body was recovered from the sea.

The victim was retrieved from the water unconscious whilst swimming near Lindos, the island's historic tourism hub, on August 16.

The island's port authority confirmed awareness of an incident involving a young foreign national being pulled from the waters.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene but were unable to save him and he was declared dead. His death was subsequently verified by medical staff at the neighbouring Archangelos Health Centre.

Local constabulary are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident, with a post-mortem examination commissioned by the Forensic Medical Service.

In a statement, the UK Foreign Office said: "We are supporting the family of a British man who died in Greece and are in contact with the local authorities".
