Police have rushed to Times Square in New York City after gunshots were fired.

At around 2am, gunshots were fired near 42nd Street and Broadway, police said.

Bystander video captured the sound of at least seven shots and showed people crouching and running for cover. Preliminary reports indicated no one was injured, police said.

Crowds have gathered in New York City to celebrate after the Knicks won their first NBA Championship in over 50 years.

Video footage online showed loud bang noises being heard before crowds started to run.

Journalist Matthew Chayes said on X: "In Times Square, a fight broke out, and either gunfire or fireworks erupted, and the crowd ran for their lives."
