The tech billionaire says Kirk’s death made him realize how dangerous speaking openly in public has become for well-known figures.

Elon Musk spoke openly about Charlie Kirk’s death during an interview on the Katie Miller Pod podcast, released on December 9. Musk said he does not stay away from the public because he wants privacy. Instead, he said the danger is simply too high.“There are serious security issues,” Musk said during the podcast.
He explained that making public appearances now feels like living on “hardcore mode.” According to Musk, “You make one mistake, you’re dead. It only takes one mistake.”

Charlie Kirk was shot and killed on September 10 while attending an event at Utah Valley University. He was speaking and interacting with people in an open space on campus when the shooting happened. The attack shocked supporters and critics alike and raised new concerns about safety at public events.
Despite his fears, Elon Musk attended Charlie Kirk’s memorial in Arizona on September 21. During the memorial, Musk spoke about Kirk’s influence. He said Kirk’s words mattered and reached people in a powerful way. Musk said Kirk was killed because his message made a difference.Earlier, on September 13, Musk also talked about Kirk’s death during a conversation with Tommy Robinson. He said the killing showed how extreme political tension has become.
