Dubai already boasts some of the world's most innovative modern architecture, which never ceases to impress and inspire. Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab are just some of the eye-catching skyscrapers that dominate the skyline in the city.

Both are testaments to the unlimited ambition of Dubai's rulers, determined as ever to push the boundaries of the possible. Now a new mega-project is set to transform the city's skyline yet again and outshine the above-mentioned iconic buildings. Architects are putting together the final touches to a plan to build a 580-metre-tall hotel complex.

The Emirates Air Hotel is expected to cost a whopping AED 3 billion (£611m) and is set to open in 2029.

Its most distinguishing feature will be a full-size Airbus A380 parked on its roof. The plane is not there for show and is designed to house unique experiences for guests.

It will contain a cockpit bar, dining areas and provide dramatic glass-wing views over the city.

The hotel aims to blend aviation heritage with luxury hospitality, creating a unique blend in urban design.

The new hotel is just the latest urban development underway in this bustling and futuristic city.

Construction is already in full swing at Dubai's Creek Harbour, which many have dubbed as the Middle East's answer to Manhattan.

An eye-watering AED 100 billion (£20) has been set aside to bring the grandiose project into fruition.

The development is designed to rival the world’s greatest financial and cultural districts. At its heart will be the Dubai Creek Tower designed by world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava.

This architectural masterpiece will not only claim the title of world’s tallest structure, but will also serve as a global landmark rivalling the Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty in international recognition.
