A mountainous country located in the heart of Europe, with towering mountains and deep Alpine lakes, has been named the best place to live in the world for 2025. Just under two hours away from the UK, Switzerland was given the accolade by US News thanks to its extremely high quality of life, its good work-life balance, a robust welfare system, and the environment having clean, crisp air.
Made up of 16,000 square miles of glacier-carved Alps, lakes, and valleys, Switzerland is one of the world’s wealthiest countries and has been well-known for centuries for its neutrality. There is not a single official language in Switzerland, meaning people speak one of four languages: Swiss German, French, and Italian. Famous for its dramatic mountain scenery, including the iconic Matterhorn and the Swiss Alps, Switzerland boasts breathtaking views and numerous hiking and skiing opportunities.

Offering a plethora of stunning destinations, those visiting Switzerland are lost for choice. The Jungfrau Region is a must-see destination. Located at the foot of the Bernese Alps, the area is a paradise for skiers and hikers.
With majestic scenery, eternal snow and waterfalls the region is also home to Jungfraujoch often called the "Top of Europe". It is a saddle in the Bernese Alps, connecting the Jungfrau and Mönch peaks.

The country’s strong economy is powered by low corporate tax rates, a highly developed service sector led by financial services and a high-tech manufacturing industry."

However, the mountainous Central European country only scored 28.2 for power due to its small military and not having strong exports.
