Texas Governor Greg Abbott wants to ban H-1B hiring in Texas public schools to curb Chinese and Islamic influence on students. In January, Texas Governor Greg Abbott ordered a freeze on H-1B hiring by public institutions of higher education in the state. Seven months later, the governor said no public schools in the state should have this foreign influence either.
