Ten men have been charged as part of an investigation into the alleged rape of a five-year-old boy at a so-called "chemsex" gathering. Chemsex parties see participants take drugs such as GHB, mephedrone or methamphetamine to heighten sexual sensations.

Whilst these gatherings typically involve consenting adults, in this appalling case, the victim had allegedly been brought to the event by his own father. A video recording of the crime was subsequently distributed among attendees and numerous other men.

Now 10 men, aged between 29 and 50, have been charged with various offences involving child sexual abuse and the use of chemical substances.

According to a statement from the public prosecutor's office in Lille, France, a five-year-old child was "brought into contact with adult males by his own father" and allegedly subjected to "acts of sexual violence aggravated by the use of chemical substances".

The incident occurred in February last year, but can only now be reported. On February 22, 2025, the Lille public prosecutor's office referred the case to an investigating judge for acts committed in Lille between November 2024 and February 14, 2025.

The offences alleged include "rape and sexual assault with the administration of a substance to the victim," as well as "rape and sexual assault with torture or acts of barbarity" and "administering to a minor under the age of 15, without their knowledge, a substance likely to alter their judgement or control of their actions in order to commit rape or sexual assault".

The inquiry 'confirmed the facts' and resulted in the indictment of 10 men, nine of whom were placed in custody. One of the main defendants took his own life on June 21 whilst in detention.

The child has been entrusted to his mother. The father had separated from her before the events took place. He is receiving special care, the public prosecutor's office said.

The maximum sentence for the crime of rape with acts of torture or barbarity is life imprisonment, the Lille public prosecutor's office stated.

The inquiry also centres on the unlawful possession of narcotics, as well as the "possession and distribution of pornographic images of a minor using an electronic communications network", reports said.

It was on the basis of these charges that the investigation extended beyond Lille with the arrest on January 18 this year of a resident of the Bas-Rhin region.

As reported by Les Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace (DNA) on Friday, January 30, police raided the home of a 30-year-old man who lives with his parents near Saverne. The report made the continuing investigation public and prompted the Lille public prosecutor's office to issue a statement.
