Iran's Tehran Province has been rocked by a huge explosion as smoke billows above a building in the city.

The blast took place in the city of Parand.

Iran International reported on X: "A citizen sent a video to Iran International from the city of Parand in Tehran province, reporting that the sound of an explosion was heard and smoke rose into the sky in this area on Wednesday, 18 February 2025."

Footage showed the aftermath of the blast, with smoke billowing into the sky above a city building.

Tehran has been rocked by a series of mystery explosions in recent weeks, with the cause unknown.

The explosion comes as the US moves military assets into the Middle East.

Axios reports that the US is "close" to war with Iran, and that a conflict could "begin soon."

On Tuesday, Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz for the first time in decades.
