A former teacher has pleaded guilty to sex crimes involving a 15-year-old student after she sent the boy thousands of texts and kissed and touched him. Jamelah Daboubi, 28, admitted charges of gross sexual imposition and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor at a hearing in February.
On April 2, 2025, police were called to Salado Creek Drive in Columbus, Ohio, USA, where a woman told the officers she had found her nephew with one of his teachers in her car. The child said he had been in a relationship with the teacher and that it involved kissing and touching one another.
Daboubi, a former teacher at Horizon Science Academy in Columbus, taught the student in one of her 10th-grade classes, the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office confirmed.

During a police interview, her victim said the pair had been texting and speaking on the phone as well as taking part in sexual activity.
When detectives searched the boy's phone, they found hundreds of calls and thousands of texts between the child and his teacher.
Daboubi is no longer employed at Horizon Science Academy and is due to be sentenced at a later date.
According to WKRC, Daboubi was indicted on two counts of sexual battery in June.

The amended charges of gross sexual imposition and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor carry a maximum sentence of 18 months in prison.

The court recommended a sentence of five years of community control, continued counselling, surrender of her teaching license and community service.
As part of her plea, Daboubi must also register as a sex offender.
