The body, which is yet to be identified, was found on February 22 by animal herders in the Makongo forest, sat 60 miles southeast of the capital, The Times reports.

Investigations into his death say the man was most likely strangled with further investigations ongoing to officially confirm if the body is Campbell's.

Officials fear the Brit may have been kidnapped, according to local media.

Police said they had been given statements from at least six people from the JW Marriott hotel where he was staying.

This included security guards and staff.

Two people have since been detained, including a taxi driver and a waiter, according to Capital News.

Campbell, a senior director with the data analytics company Fico, arrived in Kenya last Sunday and was seen for the final time around 11.15am the day after.

The 58-year-old was on a business trip with a colleague for a conference in the days before his disappearance.

His colleague reported him missing on Monday evening after being unable to reach him on his mobile.

By 7pm, the hotel advised that the police were contacted sparking a search involving hotel security and management as well as officers from the Parklands police station.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have since taken over the case and have visited local bars and hotels in the Westlands district for information relating to Campbell.

They have been able to piece together the case after finding CCTV footage which showed Campbell leaving the JW Marriott Hotel with a man dressed in a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

They then got into a car before driving off, say Capital News.

Campbell was scheduled to meet with officials from the UK, US, and several African countries for a three-day conference about markets for new products.

His FICO bio states that he is based in the London office and is "responsible for global regulatory and compliance product management within the FICO Scores team".

He joined the company in 2014 from Experian UK and has over 25 years of experience in "data management and customer identity and verification solutions."

In a statement, FICO spokesperson said: "FICO can confirm that Nairobi police have identified the body of Campbell Scott, a FICO employee.

"Campbell went missing last Sunday while on a business trip to Nairobi. We are not sharing further details, as the investigation is in the hands of the police.

We are devastated by this tragic news. Campbell was a leader in our international Scores business.

"He joined FICO in 2014 and was instrumental in introducing Scores to new markets and growing our business with existing partnerships. We mourn his passing and will miss his humour and kindness.

"Our thoughts are with Campbell’s family and friends. We ask that the media respect their privacy."

The UK High Commission in Nairobi is working with local authorities to help in the investigation.

The Foreign Office in London is also supporting Campbell's family.
