On their return to Paris two years on from winning the World Cup, South Africa outclassed France 32-17 on Saturday night despite going a man down before half-time.

Marseille provisionally went top of Ligue 1 with a 3-0 win over Brest, while Lens also leapfrogged Paris Saint-Germain with a 4-1 thrashing of Monaco. In the Premier League, Matthijs De Ligt's last-gasp equaliser earned Manchester United a 2-2 draw against Tottenham, while Arsenal dropped points for the first time since September on their trip to Sunderland.

The WTA Finals title match in Riyadh saw Elena Rybakina upset world number one Aryna Sabalenka (6-3, 7-6) to clinch her first major trophy since Wimbledon in 2022. Novak Djokovic came back from behind to fend off Lorenzo Musetti in the Athens final, taking his career tally of ATP titles to 101.

Lando Norris took a major step towards the Formula 1 title on Saturday by securing pole position for the Brazilian Grand Prix, having also won the weekend's sprint race earlier in the day.
